The craniosacral system is a semi-closed fluid system which encases the brain and spinal cord in a clear substance called cerebral spinal fluid. Within this space sits the central nervous system which is in essence the body’s mission control. If the craniosacral system is restricted then the function of the central nervous system is impaired, causing any number of physical and mental conditions.

By listening to the craniosacral rhythm your therapist can identify the restricted areas and use specialised manual techniques to release these areas. As with physical conditions having an effect on the emotional mental state of a person so too does your mental emotional state effect your physical body.Your craniosacral treatment will focus on both your physical and emotional health to facilitate complete body balance, resulting in longer lasting benefits.

Contact sports, falls, car accidents, poor posture, cronic stress, dental procedures, trauma, wheather physical or emotional, all play a role in effecting our bodies ability to function at its optimal level, resulting in the above symptoms and more.

By using very specific release techniques to free up cranial nerves and bones from local fascial tension and deeper stress triggers in the body, it is possible to reset you body’s own repair mechanism thus results in more long-term relief from your symptoms.

Using refined palpation skills to detect areas of tension and gentle manual therapy such as adapt cranial osteopathy techniques and advanced fascial release, as well as specific craniosacral techniques for releasing tension.

I can free up these problem areas and restore optimal function to the CNS, therefore restoring health to mind, body and spirit in order for your body to function at its maximum potential.

The spinal column contains one of the most complex systems in the human body, the Central Nervous System (CNS). This is a system which stems directly from the brain and runs through the spinal column ending at the sacrum or tail bone, it is central to every other human function including movement, digestion, hormones, immune response even reaction to pain and danger -: it is the core of the human body.

This is protected by a fluid filled system called the Craniosacral System, the membrane which holds this fluid is attached to the inside of the cranial bones, thus protecting the brain and runs through the spinal column surrounding the delicate spinal cord and ends with an attachment at the tail bone.

The nerve roots runs out from this membrane and nerves continue to the tips of fingers and toes and everywhere in between.

When stress (physical or emotional) and injury effect the body the related tissue tension causes dysfunction within the central nervous system in turn causing potentially far reaching symptoms and difficulty in daily life, often the symptom is nowhere near the site of known injury. When chronic pain and system dysfunction seem inexplicable or remains undiagnosed through conventional medicine, it may well be caused by undue tension on the CNS.

In cases of PTSD, depression and anxiety once the physical effects of these debilitating conditions are addressed we will work together to find coping strategies for future wellness.

This is also the case with addiction whether is it alcohol, prescription drugs or more opiate based, finding the root cause of the need to self medicate, for example chronic pain, stress, childhood trauma, and working together to find ease can greatly improve your chances of long term rehabilitation results.
