Our Children develop in their own unique way, though many aspects of childhood can greatly impact on this, weather the cause is emotional, physical or congenital the result is the same, a greater effort is needed to navigate this already hectic stage of life.

Working with these very sensitive nervous systems using gentle manual therapy to identify and release physical and emotional restrictions can greatly improve daily life and developmental potential, while not all conditions are curable there is much that can be done to assist children navigate their difficulties in an easier way while easing physical pain and discomfort, improving mood and making their own goals more easily achievable.

In the case of cerebral palsy and other restrictive physical disabilities. your therapist can help to release the facial tension and ease the painful spasms that arise with muscular atrophy, this in turn has had many fantastic results in improving mobility and motor coordination.

Sessions with children are fun and play based and very much child led, there is no requirement to lie still.

Once trust is established gentle work can begin to help your child find their balance. This can help children with sensory difficulties find their triggers, and we will worth together with Parents and existing care team to develop a plan making things easier going forward.

With Careful listening to the body and CNS this is also very achievable in non-verbal children, providing a new avenue of communication and expression.

Your child may experience a range of sensations which they are not used to such as heat/cold sensations or tingling or some describe it as very ticklish (this is when delicate membrane and soft fascia is releasing) this may cause your child to get up and move about to adjust to the new experience and this is welcome and allowed. If you have any questions regarding a session or have a child with a condition not mentioned above and would like more information please contact us on the details below.
